Adjacent to the borough’s westernmost neighborhood of Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton is a long-standing military installation supporting the Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserve. The Harbor Defense Museum located on its grounds is a military history museum that is worth a trip.
A prominent neighborhood over the years, Brooklyn Heights has a lot to offer seniors. This part of Brooklyn is right on the water, offering a beautiful view of the East River and Manhattan skyline. A major hub for business in New York City, Downtown Brooklyn is also the seat of local government at Borough Hall. The New York Transit Museum is perhaps the neighborhood’s most popular attraction and a great sight to see.
Just south of Prospect Park is the Brooklyn neighborhood of Flatbush. Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts, located on the Brooklyn College campus, is a great place to see live performances in a senior-friendly venue.
The area is designated as a historic district of New York City because of its importance during Revolutionary War-era America. Fort Greene Park and Brooklyn Academy of Music are two of its main points of interest.
A great place to shop with your home care patient in Brooklyn is the Kings Plaza Mall. They have clothing, jewelry, electronics, and many different places to eat that should keep you busy for hours. The Brooklyn Navy Yard was a big part of the borough’s history for nearly 200 years, beginning in the time after the Revolutionary War. Today it is the home of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92–a museum dedicated to the history of the location over the years.
Located to the west of Prospect Park, Park Slope is a residential neighborhood in high demand these days. The Old Stone House is a museum in the neighborhood that is dedicated to the reconstructed Vechte-Cortelyou House.

The neighborhood is located to the east of Prospect Park and contains plenty of sights to see. Chief among them are the Brooklyn Museum and the Barclays Center, which hosts many different live events.
Perhaps the most famous park in Brooklyn, Prospect Park has plenty of outdoor space. The grounds are also part of the same complex as the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Prospect Park Zoo.
The Sunset Park neighborhood is situated on the shore of the New York Harbor, but it is better known for the park it took its name from. Sunset Park consists of 24 acres of greenery and its elevated location provides amazing views of New York City.
Williamsburg is one of the busiest neighborhoods in Brooklyn, but it still has plenty for seniors to enjoy. The area has McCarren Park to provide plenty of outdoor space, as well as the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center in the Kings County Savings Bank building.
