
If your home care patient served in the military, the Harbor Defense Museum might be an interesting day trip for senior and caregiver. Constructed from a portion of Fort Hamilton, the museum preserves the history of one of the oldest military installations in the nation. The facility displays United States Army weapons, uniforms, and cannon from the 18th century to present, as well as military-themed art. Current exhibits cover the Revolutionary War, World War II, and much more.
Located in Bay Ridge, the main gate is located at Fort Hamilton Parkway and 101st Street at the foot of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Remember, since the museum is on an active military base, all guests must bring photo ID. Admission is free, but be sure to call ahead because they can close early. 718-630-4349.
